KSMC Lab IKE-Ice Drive Ltd

The project aims to enhance growth, expansion and competitiveness of a new Testing Laboratory in Serres and a new mobile ice cream selling enterprise “Ice Drive” in Blagoevgrad, by creating support mechanisms that will contribute to the increase of technological content, innovation and competitiveness of food products in the cross-border area, in accordance with the requirements of European and national legislation.

The core activities of the investment plan for the Greek investor’s side lie in the sector of the R&D in the food sector and proposes the establishment of a new independent and approved microbiological, chemical and nutritional food testing Laboratory in Serres. KSMC Lab business scope will be the formulation, small-scale production, and positioning in the market of dietary products for special medical purposes. These products shall be destined for the exclusive or partial feeding of people with a limited, impaired or disturbed capacity to take, digest, absorb, metabolise or excrete ordinary food or certain nutrients/metabolites. In order to perform all necessary innovation activities, KSMC Lab will perform microbiological and chemical laboratory tests -based on defined, appropriate and validated protocols - on food, such as dairy, pastries, ready-to-eat food, sauces, refreshments, beverages,  nutraceuticals and food supplements. Additionally, the Lab will be equipped by specialized machinery- accompanied by their respective apparatus/devices, that will be used for the production of capsules of dietary products for special medical purposes.

The core activities of the investment plan for the Bulgarian investors’ side lie in the sector of food services and proposes the establishment of a new independent ice cream selling enterprise in Blagoevgrad with the name Ice Drive. Considering a series of global ice cream market drivers the investor from Bulgaria decided to develop functional businesses and provide mobile restaurant services, by selling classic and premium offerings of ice cream products.

KSMC LAB specializes in research and development of food supplements and food for special medical purposes. To ensure the delivery of top-notch services and products, the organization recognized the necessity to standardize its processes.  ISO certification provides a framework for organizations to establish and streamline their internal processes. The standardized approach outlined in ISO 9001 helps identify inefficiencies, reduce errors, and improve overall operational performance. Within this framework, KSMC Lab enlisted the assistance of an external expert to aid in the development of a system aligned with the quality standard ISO 9001. Through collaboration with the external expert, KSMC Lab successfully implemented the system and attained ISO 9001 certification.

Development and commercialization of new products

(A)  NUTRACEUTICALS FOR HUMANS
- GASTROLIEF EXTRA: The formulation of “GASTROLIEF EXTRA” is based on Chios mastic resin (Pistacia lentiscus L.), Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) and Asparagus dry extract (Asparagus racemosus Willd.), as active ingredients. With its special formulation, GASTROLIEF EXTRA contributes to effectively relieve dyspepsia, acid reflux and supports the treatment for helicobacter pylori and gastric ulcers.
- LACTOFIBRE: a nutraceutical that aims to promote regular bowel movement, regular intestinal transit and to act as prebiotic through promoting good intestinal flora. Lactofibre increases stool frequency in patients with constipation. The formulation of LACTOFIBRE is based on Lactitol and Fibers, as active ingredients.
- GLUCOFIT:  a nutraceutical that consists of an exclusive combination of Berberis Aristata and Chromium. GLUCOFIT is based on ingredients that play an important role in Glucose Metabolism, Lipid Metabolism and Nerve Conduction.

(B) NUTRACEUTICALS FOR PETS
- ZENPET: a unique blend of Ginger, Chamomile and Valerian, is designed to help reduce stress and tension in dogs. It is a great calming supplement for fireworks, thunderstorms, traveling, separation anxiety, trips to the vet or groomers or anytime the dog is feeling nervous or stressed.
- URIPET:  a nutraceutical that consists of an exclusive combination of Cranberry, Nettle, Milk thistle and D-Mannose. It is specially designed to improve the daily life of dogs and cats
experiencing frequent urinary infections. URIPET contains ingredients with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is suitable for promoting urinary health.
- IMMUNOPET:  a nutraceutical that consists of an exclusive combination of Echinacea, Licorice, Vitamin C, Zinc and Selenium. IMMUNOPET is specially designed to help regulate body processes, protect the body from environmental toxins and fortify the body against pathogens. Including a combination of vitamins and minerals essential for the wellbeing of the immune system and enzymes, responsible for cellular health among other functions.
- DERMOPET: a nutraceutical that consists of an exclusive combination of Beetroot, Vitamins B2, B5, E, Biotin, Zinc and Selenium. It is specially designed to help support healthy skin and a glossy coat in dogs and cats.
