"THE HEALTHY MUNICIPALITY" Project: PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE
The 4th Transnational Technical Meeting and the Steering Committee of the Project entitled: “Policies for enhancing access to Health Services in deprived Areas” (Acronym: ‘THE HEALTHY MUNICIPALITY’) was successfully held in Fillyra (Rodopi), in the seat of Arriana Municipality, on 08th of Jan 2019.
The project is co-funded by 1.135.147,40 € from the Cooperation Programme Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020, (ERDF and National Funding of the countries participating in it) to improve the accessibility of people living in remote areas to the health units, while at the same time actions related to the awareness of the local population will be implemented towards acknowledging the value of prevention. Also, a series of medical examinations is expected to lead to the creation of morbidity profile of the targeted areas and to a policy recommendation for health prevention in transborder areas.
During the technical meeting and the project steering committee (PSC) all the beneficiaries were represented while at the same time the experts had the opportunity to assess the progress of the physical and economical object towards the deadline for the 3rd Progress Report. Additionally, the project activities to be implemented during the current project period were in detail examined by the participants.
The project partnership consists of nine (9) beneficiaries with significant experience in the field of trans-border cooperation:

• PΒ8: Municipality of Krumovgrad BG
• PΒ9: Municipality of Momchilgrad BG
Not to be neglected that the project proposal had been submitted under the 2nd Calls for Proposals of the Cooperation Programme Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 and lies in the Priority Axis: 4: [Socially Inclusive Cross-Border Area] and in the Investment Priority 9Α. The implementation of the project started on November 1st 2017 and its duration is 24 months.
