PRESS RELEASE
Delivery of equipment from the Region of Central Macedonia to the Fire Brigade for flood management, as part of the project “Flood Protection”
On Monday the 19th of June 2023, the Governor of the Region of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, handed over equipment for the optimal response to flood incidents to the 2nd Special Unit for Disaster Management (EMAK) and the Fire Brigade.
The event was held in the premises of the 2nd EMAK in the airport base of Sedes in Thessaloniki and the Major Fire General Mr. Karasavvidis Dimitrios (Operations Coordinator of the Fire Brigade in Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace), the Fire Brigadier Mr. Katirtzidis Aristeidis (Commander of 2nd EMAK) and the Major Fire General Mr. Dadoudis Konstantinos (Commander of the Fire Brigade) were also present.

The equipment is financed through the Strategic Project "Flood Protection" of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Interreg INTERREG VA "Greece - Bulgaria 2014 - 2020", where the Region of Central Macedonia participates as Lead Beneficiary.
The equipment delivered to the 2nd Special Unit for Disaster Management (EMAK) and the Fire Brigade includes:
1. 2 generators
2. 100 petrol drain pumps
3. 70 electric drain pumps
4. An inflatable rescue boat
5. Climbing equipment (team equipment for rescuers in white waters)
