Project “CULTURAL DIPOLE”: Inauguration ceremony of the new Petrich Historical Museum

The new Historical Museum of Petrich, Bulgaria was inaugurated on Thursday 26 May, marking the completion of the project “Cultural Dipole” of the Cooperation Programme INTERREG VA “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020”.
At an official ceremony, the inaugural ribbon was cut by the Mayor of Petrich Mr. Dimitar Bratchkov, the Mayor of Serres Mr. Alexandros Chrysafis and the director of the Historical Museum Mr. Metodi Biserkov. The mayors of the two border municipalities expressed their satisfaction in the successful partnership in the field of culture and said that cooperation will continue in the future.
Present at the ceremony were officials from the Municipality of Serres, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Democritus University of Thrace, which are project beneficiaries, whereas the Bulgarian European Commissioner Mrs. Maria Gabriel addressed a video greeting.
The opening ceremony of the new exhibition halls of the Historical Museum - Petrich closed with the performance of the Guitar-Mandolin Orchestra at the Bratya Miladinovi -1914 Community Center and the visiting soloists Teodora Petrova and Yuri Nikolov.
The project Cultural Dipole achieved to transform two abandoned camps into cultural parks, hosting two museums; the Museum of Contemporary Art "Constantin Xenakis" in Serres and the Petrich History Museum establishing a cultural bridge of today and tomorrow and a starting point for new joint actions between the two municipalities and the two countries.
