Project E.VE.CR.I: Round Table on Building Sustainable Future for Local Business and Community through Electric Mobility

May 26, 2022   Gotse Delchev 26.5 & Dospat 27.5

This week, two round tables will be held in the framework of the  project E.VE.CR.I of the CP INTERREG VA "Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020", which stimulates the development of regional business and the sustainable use of electric vehicles.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the town of Gotse Delchev, from 4 pm to 5.30 pm, will be the fourth Round Table for Bulgaria, and on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 10.30 am to 11 am - the fifth for the country, which will take place in the town of Dospat.

The two tables are entitled "Building a sustainable future for local businesses and the community through electric mobility." Before the meetings, participants and stakeholders will have the opportunity to drive an electric car in both cities.

The two round tables will discuss the necessary steps for installing charging stations in terms of permitting and administrative procedures, as well as present business models for small and medium enterprises to manage this type of station. The meetings are open to the participation of owners of hotels, restaurants, shops, and cafes and representatives of other companies and companies that have parking spaces. The aim is for them to have the opportunity to meet directly with the present operators and investors to discuss the possibilities of installing charging stations in the region.

At the meetings, guest speakers from Greece and Bulgaria will present and discuss regulations for charging stations, and charging station operators will offer options for their construction. A network of 50 charging stations should be built within the project by spring 2023.

The E.VE.CR.I. project provides a sustainable answer to the critical problem - the lack of a continuously accessible, easy-to-use, and widespread network of charging points. In addition, it will help areas near the border, where many trips to the neighboring country take place, and therefore the possibility of using the charging network of the other country is of paramount importance. E.VE.CR.I will facilitate charging infrastructure management companies, which are slowly gaining ground in Greece and Bulgaria, similar to more advanced European countries.

The development and expansion of the electric car network in the cross-border region have many advantages. Starting with improved energy efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions affecting air quality and quality of life, enhancing entrepreneurship in the cross-border region through sharing, partnership, and mutual learning, and creating a vibrant network of proponents of electric mobility, whether small businesses or municipalities.

E.VE.CR.I was initiated by the Alliance of the Producers of Ecological Energy - BG (SPEE BG), the Center for Research and Technology Hellas of the Hellenic Institute of Transport (Greece), and the Bulgarian Association of Electrical Vehicles (BAEPS).
